Well the problems I had when I got to Spain, they’re sorted now. And due to -when- they got sorted, instead of having the weekend off, like I normally would, I’ll clock in 20 hours over the weekend plus another 50 hours minimum this coming week. Meaning that in a pay period of two weeks, there’ll be 110 hours on earnings statement. I keep being asked if I’m enjoying my vacation, but people seem to forget I don’t just have one task to work on- I’ve been working all week. In fact I’ve been trying to push through everything not related to the task that has me here so I only have to do the regular motions the remainder of the time here. Not been overly successful [by my standards]. The only good thing about it being the weekend is that I don’t have to bother with emails/calls back to the office upwards to midnight local time here in an effort to work through other tasks.
This wouldn’t be anything of note, but I haven’t gotten a decent night’s sleep since the Friday before I left. Last night the person next to me had his tele on and it might as well have been in my room. I was tired enough that that didn’t keep me up. I swear no sooner than my head hits the pillow and I get comfortable do I hear the alarm. I’m even willing to get up and hit snooze, then climb back into bed. I’d like for nothing more right now than to just go back to bed until noon, do my yoga and actually go walkabout in the town with my camera. There’s a great stone pier type thing on the backside of the hotel that would be nice to just walk down and chill at. [literally if the weather was anything like the other day].
However, I am working this weekend because everything we need to work here is here now and the guys I’m working with are good. We all agree that if we start this weekend, that gives us 7 solid days without interruption and the people we’re working with here have been kick ass with helping find places to get stuff we need and work uninterrupted. Which means, instead of being ahead of schedule per our usual, we’ll be on time due to the delay of starting. So come the 17th, I’ll be free to enjoy the weekend in whatever fashion.
