On this day in history, the world was graced with my presence and has endured it for 28 years. … [Read more...]
Comic Con International!
After years of being there in spirit or vicariously through the lucky SO-er people that get to go, I finally will be there in person. If I had an ego I'd say that was enough to merit my own booth. Or if I was that rich. There is no maybe, I'd like to but I'll have to see, there is only I am.....so there. … [Read more...]
I have ‘It’
I got word today that my request to work from home post-surgery has been APPROVED. Granted, authorized, blessed, endorsed, sanctioned. And they managed to do that with two weeks to spare before the actual surgery, which is impressive with the approving not at the last minute and before it. … [Read more...]
Mileage
Some months ago I became the happy owner of a hammerdrill. Evidence here. Said awesomeness hasn't been stowed away since my garage project. Oh no. That bad boy's been getting some mileage. I found out that for those pieces that end up being some assembly required 95% of the time, I can use it to drive screws as long as I'm nice and easy on the trigger. I wish I had one when I was in my apartment. Seriously. This past weekend I was reminded of how much I hate poorly written instructions … [Read more...]
Ya done good, kid*
Some months ago my soon to be gone Bossman had a one on one with me- a 'last one evar' kind of thing. I'd be lying if I said I was sorry to hear of him leaving, because I didn't like him as a supervisor, I certainly didn't trust him, and I had lost all respect for him after a conversation with him some time back, updating him on my tasks. I digress a little. We were in his office and this was to be a letting me know where I stood discussion, since our end of the year evaluation has been an … [Read more...]
The Verdict is In
Ok, so the thing with my car getting hit and all the drama that spiraled from that [which is a work in progress blog] I will now give you a super short Cliff Notes version: The lady that hit me turned it on me and said it was my fault. Cue drama [of which veteran readers know I am not a fan of] and drawing out an already pain in my ass process of dancing with the insurance company. I'm supposed to see their adjuster to look at my car and estimate repairs. I called to make sure I knew where to … [Read more...]
This is why I say money is never an impersonal gift Pt 2
People always ask me, what would I like for $occasion, be it Christmas, my birthday, unbirthday, et al. I try to be good with keeping my wishlist up to date, cause some people like to do their giftage that way. When I offer up that cashy money is -never- an impersonal gift, some people act like I smacked them. Hard. I don't know why this is because cashy money gifts are immediately put into my Techie Toy fund from which I by myself techie toys [hence the creative and original name for the … [Read more...]
Gets the Job Redux
I talk to my mom just about everyday. Seeing her everyday is something different altogether as she works night shifts and I decidedly don't. Unless I'm suddenly in Hawaii or further for work. Then by my home clock I'm working night shifts. I've yet to be suddenly in Hawaii. I get a phone call at work from her when she rouses in the mornings. If I'm traveling for work, not so much. When my mom got the job offer that she eventually took, it was shared during one of our daily phone calls … [Read more...]
This is why I say money is never an impersonal gift Pt 1
I now bring you the toyS post. Plural. Oh jes, very plural. After much expenditure of willpower and keeping an eye out for the past couple years, I got an mp3 player. I was thinking iPod, but my encounter with iTunes left me not exactly wanting to deal with them unless I have too. The perk is that there's a plethora of accessories and gazmos made for it so that if you got your car and they didn't have a AUX input, you weren't left out. And then some. I was in no rush essentially. What … [Read more...]
Gets the Job
My mom's been looking to expand her knowledge. However, said new job has to match or surpass what's she's currently being paid..naturally. With her line of work, you can do the equivalent of part time at other places...which is usually how most in her field make extra money and augment their experience. She said her interview went well yesterday and after thinking about the offer, she accepted it today. So my mom's got a new job in league with the two others she has. [Her regular shift work … [Read more...]
