It may not come as a shock to regular readers that I do projects about the house. For everyone else…I do projects about the house. Whether it’s working on my Garage, the porch, closets, kitchen, etc- I do stuff about the house. When I was in Florida for work some weeks back, I was talking with a guy and the conversation segued into tools. He had just bought this small screw gun for stuff about the house. Nothing fancy, uber powerful, but gets the job done. Prior to kicking off my Garage project, I bought myself a hammer drill from DeWalt, (which is all sorts of kickass). For small jobs, it seems like overkill and sometimes it was a pain to haul that out and usually the extension cord to drive in 4 1″ screws.
So when said fellow was talking about this Ryobi screw gun that can drive 3″ screws easy…it got my attention. I checked it out and decided to get myself one. Honestly, I didn’t need much coaxing after hearing about how nice this 18V Lithium cordless performed. It just so happens when I finally got around to going to the only Home Depot in Charleston [which is clear across town and then some] it was Father’s Day. I looked for the drill, but there was only the display. I asked for some help to see if there was more and ended up getting three people trying to locate the 12 they had in stock. It took a bit, they searched near about every conceivable spot for where they might be on display [they turned out to be on sale] and finally a gentleman found said 12 still waiting to be put out and brought me back one. I must have litup like the Rockefeller Tree based on his expression. I was happy because I thought I’d be walking outta there without it and I couldn’t buy them online…they were sold out.

Throughout this I had men that walked by saying it was pretty much a home run buying my dad a tool as a gift. I’d tell them a variance of things like he’d have to flip me for it, or he’d have to keep his paws off, etc, explaining that this was for me. Which garnered a pleasant surprise reaction. Then a lil ‘good on ya’ when I would share that I already had a hammer drill and was looking for a screw gun for smaller jobs around the house. It had me thinking that perhaps I needed to take pics of my garage like people have pics of their kids, so I’d have them handy to show off .
