It may not come as a shock to regular readers that I do projects about the house. For everyone else...I do projects about the house. Whether it's working on my Garage, the porch, closets, kitchen, etc- I do stuff about the house. When I was in Florida for work some weeks back, I was talking with a guy and the conversation segued into tools. He had just bought this small screw gun for stuff about the house. Nothing fancy, uber powerful, but gets the job done. Prior to kicking off my Garage … [Read more...]
Branded
My family's not perfect. I'd be a blind idiot to think otherwise, because my family is comprised of people; by association, since people are imperfect, flawed-so is my family to a degree. Family became that much more important to me when I buried my little sister. It was always important, but when I buried my sister, there was a thought that cut through the haze of mourning and grief like the light beam of a lighthouse: I was nineteen and all of that remained of my family was my mother. … [Read more...]
And Here We Are, Incomplete
Well, this November has been no different than the Novembers past. Yet again this year I have written my NaNoWriMo endeavor mostly in my head versus typing it out. I will continue to work on it so if you'd like to read it as it progresses I will be posting chapters at Anodyne. If you want notices of new additions, you'll get them if you favorite Adaptation: Drift from Anodyne. But I understand if you don't want to register an account for that. Just leave me a note if you don't already have … [Read more...]
It’s Been A Long Time, [long time] Since I
'It's been a long time since I've been in an Emergency Room' I thought this while looking around the room they put me in. Feeling out of place while I listened partially to the TV in there and hoping that the excruciating pain that brought me there was really nothing. I had a hard time convincing myself of that..with the excruciating pain part...that's usually something versus nothing. Then again, when my back isn't playing nice, I pass it off as 'old hat' because it … [Read more...]
Gets the Job Redux
I talk to my mom just about everyday. Seeing her everyday is something different altogether as she works night shifts and I decidedly don't. Unless I'm suddenly in Hawaii or further for work. Then by my home clock I'm working night shifts. I've yet to be suddenly in Hawaii. I get a phone call at work from her when she rouses in the mornings. If I'm traveling for work, not so much. When my mom got the job offer that she eventually took, it was shared during one of our daily phone calls … [Read more...]
Gets the Job
My mom's been looking to expand her knowledge. However, said new job has to match or surpass what's she's currently being paid..naturally. With her line of work, you can do the equivalent of part time at other places...which is usually how most in her field make extra money and augment their experience. She said her interview went well yesterday and after thinking about the offer, she accepted it today. So my mom's got a new job in league with the two others she has. [Her regular shift work … [Read more...]
Girlie Days are Here Again
Friday during work I get a call from the parental unit. Turns out she's off of work and if I'm finished with work early enough we can meet at the commissary and get that To Do item off the list. This is ideal as it leaves Saturday wide open to do whatever we want- which will be a Girlie Day, something we haven't had in ages. Standing in the check out we engage in our ritual prediction for the total bill. She doesn't think mines is even close, so I say loser buys lunch/dinner during our … [Read more...]
Change of Spots
Before I get into the meat of this post, I have to give a healthy amount of background. When I was younger I'd go visit my paternal dadsParents quite often. The reason being was Zi's specialist was in Charleston. So every time she had an appointment, it entailed a visit to Grandma's [for the sake of typing known henceforth as dadsMa and dadsPa]. I can recall loving those times. My dadsMa's yard was just an awesome playground. She had a modest pond, a big ol swing and her shrubbery plus my … [Read more...]
Talking about That Which We Do Not Speak Of
So there I am, listening to some jazz as my teeth are getting cleaned. She's gentle with the area I pointed out was making trouble. I tell her I think a chip stabbed me in just the right spot..that being right into the gum via the side of the tooth. I've irrigated, brushed with Listerine on that area and flossed like a woman with OCD tendencies..err I mean more than my OCD tendencies. She takes a look and says that yeah, big food trap, she'll make sure the dentist, Happy-To-Give-Shots takes … [Read more...]
You hear that, that’s the Cosmos laughing
Went out with the guys again, sans one..seems he had a hawt date in Orlando [where he hails from]. May your game reward you man. Dude is hardly ever in C-ton on the weekends...I find it funny, but then, I can relate. I mean all my friends and college pals live in another state. Hard to hang with them. And I miss Antou something fierce when I go out with these guys for drinks. Ahh, images of the South Beach nightlife creep into my mind's eye...walking into the hotel all zombified at six or … [Read more...]
