[Cherry Hill, NJ Supernatural Convention, Friday 06 Mar 09] Author Note: This is a work in progress; I'll get it posted as soon as time will allow Friday | Saturday | Sunday | Epilogue | I was home from Texas for almost two whole days before I was packed up again and jet-setting to New Jersey. I got in the night before the Supernatural Convention was kicking off, so I had some time to decompress. And since I wasn't staying at the hotel the convention was being held at, it was useful to have … [Read more...]
Comic Con 2008: Sunday
SDCC 2008 posts Sunday. Last day of SDCC. Typically Thursdays and Sundays are supposed to be the laxer of the four days. All four days were sold out, so even on Sunday, there would be a proverbial packed house. My goal for that day was to go to the Supernatural panel. That was the panel. The panel= If I didn't get to see anything else but saw that panel, it'd make my day panel. The thing that would make this interesting is that they were holding the Smallville panel right in front of it. … [Read more...]
Comic Con 2008: Saturday
SDCC 2008 posts So my Friday kicked off the weekend pretty awesomely. I got to meet and talk with some creators and artists that I like. I left early again to get to the convention center. The first panel I wanted to scope was the Heroes Panel in Hall H. I knew that that was another panel that would be on people's radar. So I got in line for that. It snaked around the building, way past where it was for Watchmen the day before and kept going down the marina walkway behind one of the hotels … [Read more...]
Comic Con 2008: Friday
SDCC 2008 posts After becoming that much wiser after the first day, I leave earlier for the Con. My first stop is Hall H, and I laid odds that that line would grow and quickly since the panel I was keen on seeing was for Watchmen. And I was right. Trish was already in line. Which is another thing people were cool about, because we're kinda all in the same boat of being understanding but likely to hate the person that jumped in line with pals and caused you to just miss getting in. I … [Read more...]
Comic Con 2008: Quick Snippets
SDCC 2008 posts Highlight of today? Hugh Jackman as a surprise guest at the 20th Century Fox Panel for Max Payne and The Day the Earth Stood Still Panel. I was there for Max Payne [the clips they showed...brutal. Niiice.] Hugh came out at the end, straight from Australia. He told the group they'd literally just wrapped Wolverine. Hugh was pumped to be there; strike that, he was amped. He said there was no way he was going to miss bringing some of the X-verse to SDCC [he also … [Read more...]
Comic Con International!
After years of being there in spirit or vicariously through the lucky SO-er people that get to go, I finally will be there in person. If I had an ego I'd say that was enough to merit my own booth. Or if I was that rich. There is no maybe, I'd like to but I'll have to see, there is only I am.....so there. … [Read more...]
Indy’s Back…Sweet.
I know I am among the many that got stoked hearing that they finally agreed on a Indy 4 script. I loved those movies and I've never seen myself going wrong loving Harrison Ford do his thing. It's kinda like seeing that latest Rocky and Rambo...a whole lotta nostalgia surrounded watching those and I'm fairly certain when Indy 4 hits the theaters, I won't be disappointed..apart from you know, Sean Connery not returning to play Indy's dad. Mr. Ford's looking good wearing his Indy duds again. … [Read more...]
A Little Change
I've decided to do some pruning and changing for my journal here at SDS.net. I've scoured through a lot of themes looking for something a little more 'polished' but would still allow me to show 'me' in adding my own touches. I've settled on a something a little more friendly as I put it. Meaning for those that are sneaking a look during a lunch break, it looks more like a news/information peruse than something obviously not. I've put up the theme switcher to allow you to choose the new theme … [Read more...]
Travel g33k Chic
While going through airport security, the lady operating the machine flags my carry on. It had been smooth sailing up to that point. I check-in online, I got my stickers for my bags at the front and through TSA screening and off I was to my gate. Until my bag doesn't come out the other end of the machine and I look at the operator scrutinizing the items in there. She doesn't know what she's seeing and I'm standing there thinking [in my near bare feet] was I supposed to take all my electronic … [Read more...]
Obey my Request
Alrightie folks, it's that time for you lot to pony up with the snail mail addys and the wish list links. This is a demand. You must comply. And to make you feel more inclined I will now state that if you do it will make me feel loads better. This is relevant because my index digit had a run in with a serrated knife and now there are butterflies involved. It's not pretty. Every time I change the bandage, I see meat. Which is disturbingly cool in only a way a geek can find it. Now send … [Read more...]
