Friday during work I get a call from the parental unit. Turns out she’s off of work and if I’m finished with work early enough we can meet at the commissary and get that To Do item off the list. This is ideal as it leaves Saturday wide open to do whatever we want- which will be a Girlie Day, something we haven’t had in ages. Standing in the check out we engage in our ritual prediction for the total bill. She doesn’t think mines is even close, so I say loser buys lunch/dinner during our Girlie Day
I buy the tapas and drinks on our Girlie Day. Suffice to say that my estimate for our almost semi-annual grocery shopping at the Commissary was kinda off. I’m usually within $50 but I was way off. I forgot to take into account that we bought a lot of things in threes and fours. And we got flash frozen seafood. Eating healthy’s expensive, which is a non-obvious reason why being diabetic as I am is suckage. I say semi-annual because we go to the Commissary perhaps 3 times a year. Naturally perishables are bought on the weekly as we go through them, but for everything else..Commissary.
This past weekend was the first girlie day for my mom and I in ages. I haven’t really been home since September for more than twoish weeks and mom works stretches like 100ish hours in two weeks. So Saturday was nice since 1) we didn’t have to wake early in the morning and do the Commissary thing. Instead we got up and did the Scare the Yuppies whilst we Window Shop thing. I managed to walk out of Pier 1 and Liz Shoes empty handed. Vet Readers know this is a rarity and demands a gargantuan amount of willpower. That and I think a broken toe is a good deterrent for impulse buying killer footware..and I mean killer. It didn’t keep me from trying on a pair or two, but just a pair or two.
We spent the whole day window shopping, gabbing, treating ourselves and getting stuffs for the Casa that have been needed. It was a good day. Slightly soured by some unwanted drama, but that was quickly turned around a bit. For the record, chickpea and eggplant curry with lemon basmati rice is beyond delish. We’ll be making that again.

OK, go ahead. Kick me in the nuts. I deserve it. I’ve had two bottles of pretty fine Riesling on my table for weeks now, ready to be shipped… and I still haven’t done it. I deserve a good ass-whoopin.
To quote Joker in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker…’Well..if it’s a whoopin you’ra wantin…’ 😛
Annnnd you also had packing material for at least one. Step to…or I’ll give T-Rex your email addy. 👿 The thought alone gives me glee. MUWHA!
